The Pursuit of Happiness《当幸福来敲门》
The Pursuit of Happiness is a 2006 American biographical drama film inspired by a true story, that of Chris Gardner, who was among working homeless in th early 1980s and managed to pull himself up by the bootstraps. William Smith features in the film as Chris Gardner and Will's son Jadon Smith co-stars as Gardner's son Christopher Jr.

Chris Gardner is a bright and talented, but marginally employed salesman. Struggling to make ends meet, Gardener finds himself and his five-year-old son evicted from their San Francisco apartment with nowhere to go. Nevertheless, he keeps in pursuit of his dream of a better life for the two of them. Finally, his effort has paid off and he gets the position. Upon hearing the news, Chris rushes to his son's daycare, hugging him tightly.

The film has received numerous good views upon its release. The tough beauty of the picture is that it lets each viewer weigh the costs and benefits to Gardner. It's a genuinely transporting inspirational movie because it's also a cautionary tale. It does not downplay the hero's occasional clumsiness or pigheadedness. For his performance, Will Smith was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor.

Roman Holiday is a Romantic comedy released in 1953 by Paramount Pictures. It stars Gregory Peek as a reporter and Audrey Hepburn as a royal princess of some unspecified European country. It is directed by William Wyler who still has a record of more people getting to the Oscar sweeptakers for his films than any other director. Hepburn won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance; the screenplay and costume design also won.

Anne, the crown princess, embarks on a highly publicized tour of European capitals. When she and her royal entourage arrive in Rome, she begins to rebel against her restricted schedule. One night Anne sneaks out to her room, hops into the back of a delivery truck and escapes. She runs into an American newspaper reporter, Joe Bradley, stationed in Rome. In order to make an exclusive interview with the princess, Joe pretends that he doesn't recognize her and offers to give her a guided tour of Rome. Through all this, Joe falls in love with her. But a relationship is impossible. Anne finally bids farewell to Joe and returns to the embassy. Joe decides not to write the story.

Forrest Gump, on the basis of the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom, is a 1994 American romantic-comedy-drama film. The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a slow-witted and naive, but good-hearted and athletically prodigious man from Alabama who witnesses, and in some cases influences, some of the defining events of the latter half of the 20th century in the United States. More specifically, the period between Forrest's birth in 1944 and 1982.

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer-winning 1936 novel. It was directed by Victor Fleming. Set in the 19th-century American South, the film tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner, from her romantic pursuit of Ashley Wikes, who is married to another kind-hearted woman, Malanie Hamilton, to her marriage to Rhett Butler.

The film shows incisively and vividly how Americans struggle in adversity, the pursuit of personal independence, dignity, love, optimism and enterprising national spirit. Scarlett, the little woman grown up in a middle-class family, has experienced a series of huge difficulties and setbacks, like civil war, the reconstruction, the death of daughter, losing her beloved ones and so on. But she seldom shows timidity and overcomes the adversities again and again. The line "After all, tomorrow is another day." is the best expression of her optimism to strive for a better life. The leading role Vivien Leigh shows gorgeous, capricious, elegant characteristics of Scarlett perfectly.

The film received positive reviews upon its release in December 1939. At the 12th Academy Awards held in 1940, it received ten Academy Awards from thirteen nominations, including wins for Best Picture, Best Director (Victor Fleming), Best Actress (Vivien Leigh).

Avatar is an American epic science fiction premiered in 2009. It broke several box office records and became the highest-grossing film of all time, as well as in the United States and Canada, surpassing Titanic which was also directed by James Cameron.

Against this background, Jake Sully (starred by Sam Worthington), paraplegic former marine, is found by RDA to replace his brother to finish the mission to research on Navi’s ways in order to relocate them.

During one mission, he is rescued by Neytiri, the daughter of the clan’s spiritual leader. He gets to know more about Pandora. It is contradictory for him to decide which side he should fight for. After that, with the exception of Jake, Max, Norm and a few other scientists, all humans are expelled from Pandora and sent back to Earth and Jake is transferred permanently into his avatar. Avatar is primarily an action-adventure journey of self-discovery, in the context of imperialism and deep ecology.
